Our Mission

Our Mission

The purpose of the Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) Center at UCSF is to contribute new evidence and facilitate the implementation of pediatric family-centered care (FCC) and family-centered services in settings where children receive health care around the world. The purpose of the RMHC Center is aligned with RMHC’s mission of creating, finding, and supporting programs that directly improve the health and well-being of children and their families. During the first year of the Center, two global research studies were launched, the Learning From Families (LFF) study and the FCC Knowledge, Attitudes and Practices (FCC KAP) study.

In 2022, RMHC and UCSF joined forces with the aim to contribute new evidence and facilitate the implementation of pediatric family-centered care and family-centered services in all settings where children receive health care globally. Leading our research is Linda Franck, RN, PhD, FRCPCH, FAAN, Professor, School of Nursing with support from colleagues at the University of California San Francisco. Additionally, the Center engaged in activities to support the RMHC system and Chapters in building research capacity, knowledge of family-centered care, and collaboration with hospital partners.
